Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What is NCFAM?

The National Facilitation Assessment & Moderation Council (NCFAM) is a professional association that supports, regulates, and recognizes facilitators, assessors, and moderators working within SETA-aligned education and training programmes across South Africa.

Important: NCFAM is not a SETA. We are an independent professional body that collaborates with all 21 SETAs to support practitioner recognition, compliance, and mobility.

2. Who can become a member?

Membership is open to:

  • Accredited facilitators, assessors, and moderators
  • Skills Development Providers (SDPs)
  • Corporate L&D professionals involved in SETA-funded training
  • Freelancers and consultants in education and training

3. What is the NCFAM Certified Practitioner (NCP) designation?

The NCP designation recognizes individuals qualified to practice as facilitators, assessors, or moderators. It confirms SETA-aligned training, valid certificates (e.g. US 117871, 115753, 115759), and active engagement with accredited SDPs.

4. What do I receive as a registered member?

  • A digital certificate and badge
  • A practitioner profile on the NCFAM platform

  • Eligibility for paralegal support services

5. How much does registration cost?

You can choose:

  • R1000 once-off annual payment, or
  • R100 monthly instalments

This covers verification, digital credentials, CPD access, and listing in the NCFAM registry.

6. How long is my registration valid?

Registration is valid for 12 months from approval. Renewal reminders are sent 30 days before expiry. Lapsed members may be removed from the active registry.

7. What is NCFAM’s role in SETA alignment?

NCFAM aligns with all 21 SETAs to:
